Programme overview for the Master's in Computer Science
Your master's programme with 120 ECTS credits gives you in-depth knowledge in software engineering, as well as mathematics and statistics. Early on, you gain expertise in data science and artificial intelligence. You explore the design, analysis, and application of algorithms in detail, and learn the fundamentals of cybersecurity and data protection.
You also have the opportunity to choose elective modules based on your interests and engage with the societal impact of your work in computer science. You discuss current topics in the field and analyse complex, interconnected systems.
At the end of your studies, the master's thesis with colloquium worth 30 ECTS credits allows you to independently apply your acquired knowledge to a specific problem using scientific methods, presenting and defending your results.

As a software developer, you develop and implement software - from individual components to complete applications. Due to your focus on data science and artificial intelligence, you are able to transform complex algorithms in this environment into efficient software.
In coordination with users from different departments, you develop solutions to efficiently store and evaluate large amounts of data and thus answer users' questions.
As a security specialist in the field of data science and AI, you ensure the security of the available data and the associated infrastructure and protect them against attacks or accidental damage.
To do this, you coordinate with your colleagues from software development and IT operations as well as the users from the specialist departments in order to assess risks and take appropriate measures.
As a data engineer, you will be responsible for all processes associated with the generation, storage, preparation, maintenance, and dissemination of data. The construction and monitoring of the hardware and software infrastructure are crucial.
This includes the design, purchase, and installation of all necessary components. Furthermore, as a data expert, you are responsible for the stability of the entire system as well as compliance with data protection and security.

Completed undergraduate degree in Computer Science or computer-related subjects with at least 180 ECTS.
Your degree must be from a state or state-approved higher education institution/university
You must have achieved a final grade of at least “satisfactory” or Grade C equivalent to the German grade “befriedigend” in your previous undergraduate degree
Alternatives to the minimum grade (120 ECTS credits)
If you have completed your bachelor's degree with a grade of "sufficient" or grade D equivalent to the German grade “ausreichend” (up to 4.0), you can still be admitted to a master's or MBA program. For this, you need:
A bachelor's degree (grade 3.5 - 4.0) from a state or state-approved higher education institution/university
andRelevant study achievements from a master's/MBA programme at a state or state-approved higher education institution/university relevant to the desired master's/MBA programme, with a minimum of 40 ECTS credits
orUn Máster/MBA relevante y finalizado de una institución universitaria/universidad estatal o reconocida oficialmente por el Estado
orCualificaciones relevantes fuera del ámbito académico que pueden ser reconocidas, como formación continua/formación en nivel GQF7 o, en el caso de cualificaciones extranjeras como postgraduate diplomas, equivalentes al nivel GQF7 y relevantes para el programa de Máster/MBA deseado, con un minimum of 40 ECTS credits
Tip: If you apply for recognition, we can review your relevant achievements and, where possible, credit them towards your study programme in a relevant field.
Exception: To be admitted to the master's programme in Architecture (120 ECTS credits), you must have completed your undergraduate degree with a final grade of at least "good” or grade B equivalent to the German grade "good" (up to 2.5).
Is your undergraduate degree not in the required subject field for the 120 ECTS programme's admission requirements? You can still apply! You'll have to take 2 specific courses from your study programme and successfully complete them before you can start your studies.
Recognition of knowledge and abilities acquired outside of higher education is possible in principle.
The alternative admission requirements represent individual exceptions to the aforementioned General Admission Requirements and ensure that you are qualified to access a master's degree programme. Admission is granted at the discretion of the institution.
We, therefore, ask for proof of your English language skills*. If English is your native language or you graduated from an English-speaking school/university, you don’t need to prove your English skills.

*Proof must be provided before the start of the study and must not be older than five years.
